The Clay Oven is a welcome addition to Acton's takeout options. There's a lot on the menu, and while many of the dishes taste similar to me, they've all been very tasty. The chicken dhansak is a personal favourite. Service has definitely improved since the restaurant opened last year, though I only do takeout and haven't sat down to eat there.

My wife and I love Indian food and had noticed this place when we drove through Acton recently so we decided to give it a shot - i think it was during the week.
The place is pretty small which is fine with us and there was only one other table when we arrived and they left shortly after. We were shown to a table and given menus but then the host disappeared for 5 or 10 minutes. When he finally showed up he took our drink order and away he went, we assumed to get our drinks. Another 5 minutes went by with no drinks and he was standing folding table cloths on another table - we were still the only table at this point. I called him over and we ordered then we heard a bunch of bottles being moved around in the bar - of course they didn't have the beer we ordered but he didn't tell us that until he brought the appetizers.
The food was pretty average and based on the poor service we will not be returning. -

Four of us went to The Clay Oven in Acton last night for some Indian food. This is a new, small restaurant that opened about two weeks ago. Although we aren't overly familiar with Indian food we know what we like, and we certainly liked the Clay Oven. The staff were friendly and helpful. Since there were four of us we opted for the meal for four ($85). We ended up with thirteen (13) different items including three appetizers, two different Naan breads and eight mains including rice. Our selection included chicken, beef and lamb. The mains came in small bowls but we were definitely full and satisfied at the end of our meal. The spices were perfect. Not hot or overly spiced as many inexperienced Indian food eaters believe. We were very happy we tried the Clay Oven and will definitely go back again.
